English Class Schedule

Every Sunday we hold English lessons for helpers.

There are four sessions per month (the first four Sundays of each month). The helpers and their employers may choose to enrol in any of the following configurations:

Option 1

2 sessions, 8 hours - weeks 2 & 4 ($80/month)

Option 2

2 sessions, 8 hours - weeks 1 & 3 ($80/month)

Option 3

4 sessions, 16 hours ($160/month)

English Course Options

Students will be grouped into 5 groups according to ability. 

English for Helpers - Level 1 (Complete beginners)

After this course, students will be able to use basic English to understand, navigate, and communicate in several common real life situations and contexts such as going to the doctor, calling 999, getting around, following very simple recipes, shopping and discussing household duties. Students will be able to make simple introductions. They will be able to talk about likes and dislikes, common places in town, routines, and jobs. Students will be able to make and respond to requests.

English for Helpers - Level 2 (Elementary English Speakers)

After this course, students will be be more competent in everyday situations and will be able to handle routine events such as shopping with ease. They will be able to follow more recipes and will handle everyday situations such as doctors, calling 999 with more confidence. They will be able to talk about people and school. They will be able to ask questions about people, animals, and everyday objects. Students will be able to report back simply on everyday events (narratives). They will be able to start giving opinions and reasons.


English for Helpers - Level 3 (Pre-Intermediate English Speakers)

After this course, students will be able to help children with simple English homework such as spelling lists and some grammar tasks. Students will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. They will be able to talk about future arrangements and preferences as well as deal with most situations likely to arise both at home and with teachers at school. Students will be able to describe experiences and events, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

English for Helpers - Level 4 (Intermediate English Speakers)

After this course, students will be able to help children with their English homework up to P3 level and beyond. They will be able to follow most recipes, navigate online shopping websites and deal with most situations in detail. Students will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in life. They will be able to talk about work, leisure activities, city life, ambitions and dreams, and health, as well as express decisions and reasonings behind those decisions. They will have a greater command over tenses and how they are used both in conversation, storytelling, and text.

English for Helpers - Level 5 (Upper-Intermediate English Speakers) (Advanced 1)

After this course, students will be able to help children with their homework up to P6 level and beyond. The will be able understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. They will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Students will be able to explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
